I've decided to give up
being humorous. It is not getting me anywhere. Why do I have the feeling this is going to make someone laugh? Ugh.

You are right on. The fall is generally the harbinger of introspection, bits of melancholic, and weighty seriousness for me. Not a bad season for it, huh?
